Come to Firepit Pizza Tavern for the pizza, but stay for the meatballs, wings, and a fun but casual atmosphere! This relatively new spot in Grant Park is family friendly and offers tasty bites to patrons of all ages.

With two phenomenal chefs running it, it’s no wonder the food at Firepit Pizza Tavern is excellent. Leslie Cohen is the restaurant’s owner – you may recognize her as the winner of the Food Network’s “Cutthroat Kitchen.” And chef Shaun Whitmer hails from Ammazza, arguably one of the best pizza joints in Atlanta. You can trust this duo to wow you with some delicious slices and pies.

But Firepit Pizza Tavern’s menu has so much more to offer: The meatballs are out of this world, the salads are filling and satisfying, and the wings come with a literal secret sauce. Read on to see what to order for yourself, your partner, friends, and little ones.

WHY GO:

  • Because you’re craving yummy Italian-inspired comfort food in a laid-back setting

  • And/or because you live in Grant Park, and this eatery is within walking distance of your house (if so, I’m very jealous of you!)

THE VIBE:

  • Easy-going, cheerful, fun

  • Edison lights throughout, a bustling bar, large tables in the dining room, surrounded by whitewashed brick walls

START WITH THIS:

  • Definitely the meatballs!

    • They are soft and juicy on the inside, but well-seared on the outside and served with lots of marinara, fresh basil, and slices of Parmesan cheese

  • Also, get the firepit wings

    • Pro tip: Get them with the unicorn seasonings, which is Firepit’s secret sauce (literally)!

THEN EAT THIS:

  • If you want pizza, try the Honey pie

    • It’s topped with spicy capicola, caramelized onions, Calabria peppers, honey ricotta, and fresh basil – an addicting combination of sweet and spicy flavors

  • If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, check out the salmon BLT

    • Pro tip: Order the street corn as your side – you can get it on or off the cob, and it is incredible!

  • If you’re trying to eat healthy, consider ordering the meatballs and a salad together as your meal

    • The tavern and the Greek salads are my favorite at Firepit Pizza Tavern, and the appetizer portion of meatballs is the perfect protein pairing for them
