Fave Five: Fourth of July

As your Facebook feed has already informed you, the weather won’t be pleasant on this year’s Independence Day. What… a bummer.

Not to worry. Many venues around town are holding events rain or shine. Here are five indoor-outdoor options to consider:

Whiskey Blue

The rooftop bar at the W Hotel Buckhead, Whiskey Blue is probably the best place to watch fireworks over Lenox (it’s practically adjacent to Lenox mall). But the best part is that it has both indoor and outdoor spaces: If it’s raining, watch the pop, crackle, and boom through the floor-to-ceiling windows. If it’s miraculously nice out, enjoy the fireworks on the gorgeous patio over one of their themed cocktails.

Sky Lounge

Located on the roof of the Glenn Hotel downtown, Sky Lounge is perfect for watching the fireworks over Centennial Olympic Park. If you have out-of-town visitors, this is a great place to take them as you get the view of all the touristy Atlanta attractions. Don’t feel like driving back to the ‘burbs from downtown after a fun night of drinking? Don’t. Book a Red, White & Boom package deal at the hotel (remember, being a safe driver is sexy).

Ventanas

Another rooftop venue (are you sensing a theme yet?), Ventanas boasts an eye-level view of downtown fireworks. The indoor space here is bigger than the outdoor patio, which will probably come in handy. $26 gets you in the door, where Q100 will be spinning some dance tunes, as well as hors d’oeuvres, a complimentary well drink, and a $5 play card to use at Game-X.

Park Bar

Since you’re already downtown and you’re staying here (because you’re a sexy safe driver), you might as well head to Park Bar for the Fourth of July after party. It’s directly across from Centennial Olympic Park, so stop by after the fireworks and take advantage of their infamous 3-2-1 drink special: Three shots for the price of two, all in one glass (which you get to keep!).

Bone Lick BBQ

Of course, no Fourth of July is complete without some delicious barbecue. Therefore, I present to you the Red, White & ‘Cue party at Bone Lick BBQ. This party starts at noon and features everything a good summer grill out should: BBQ, cold beer, a pig roast, a Twinkie-eating contest, kiddie pools, and live music, all held on the rooftop of the Apex building on Huff Road (I have a penchant for rooftops). When it gets dark, you get a fantastic view of a number of fireworks around Atlanta.
