Happy Valentine's Day!
So, Valentine’s Day is here and, let me guess, you’re still trying to figure out what to do with your one and only tonight. You want to do something romantic and special but without breaking the piggy bank. Forget expensive presents and chocolates—take your honey to Ziba’s Wine Bar for some delectable wine, tapas, and hookah instead.
Ziba’s is perfect for a romantic night out, courtesy of its atmosphere. The European café-inspired style features art-adorned exposed brick walls, rustic red paint, and simple black furniture. The lighting is dim, and the small marble tables are perfect for sharing a bottle of wine and some desert. Speaking of wine—it’s mostly served by the bottle here, and the selection is impressive. A 1999 Les Chapelles bottle of Bordeaux for only $30? Yes, please!
The food menu is concise but doesn’t make choosing a dish any easier—all the menu choices are tempting. The tapas menu is served until late at night and includes items like grilled quail, mussels a la meuniere, and yucca frites. If you bring a bigger appetite, try some of the entrées: Lamb shank, citrus braised baby octopus, or chicken “spanakopita.” Small plates won’t cost you more than $10 each, and big plates are all under $20—a great price point for items like seafood and steak.
THE VERDICT: Sometimes, giving your loved one an experience instead of a physical gift works just as well, if not better. A night at Ziba’s is a great place for a date night: It’s a no-pretense bar where you can actually have a conversation and won’t be bored (do try to hookah!).
