Update: 'Steel' of the week
I was finally able to go to the happy hour at Steel Restaurant & Lounge last week. It. Was. Awesome!
The whole experience was completely no-hassle. You park in the deck—no tickets to validate, no meters to feed, just free parking. Do get there early if you don’t want to wait for a table—the place gets packed around 6 p.m.
The free sushi deal applies to the bar (which was hoppin’ when we got there) and the main dining room. Our server quickly brought us drinks and a plate of sushi and didn’t pressure us to order more food.
You get about eight pieces of sushi at a time—all chef’s selection for the day—and it is all ridiculously good. Steel’s California roll is the best one I’ve ever had! Finally, a California roll made with fresh crab meat.
If you don’t like some of the sushi, just tell your server—he/she will bring you more of the stuff you like next time. The server will keep bringing you plates of sushi until you say stop.
Since there’s a $10 minimum per person, we also ordered some crab rangoon—nom! And all the signature drinks and some appetizers are only $5 during happy hour, which means your $10 tab goes a long way.
I didn’t even look at the regular menu, simply because the sushi was so satisfying. But I’m willing to come back and try it.
THE VERDICT: Delicious food, delicious drinks, fun atmosphere. GO!
